The poetry “Ubatuba Charm City” shows the Ubatuba that few people knows. Guilherme Charleaux, was born in Ubatuba prophesied his own death, he said that would die in “day, month and year ended with 5”. He dead on 05-05-1955, in Santos-SP. For don’t have job in Ubatuba, the young “caiçaras” had to go to work in Santos to clean banana plantations and opening ditches of drainage of the pluvial waters with Guilherme Charleaux it was not different, he went to Santos in 1925. Charleaux had more luck than his fellow citizens, he got very fast a public job in General office of the Health, in combat department to the Malaria, what at that time this epidemic devastated São Paulo coastline and interior cities. His nephew Nilson that lives at the Estufa II quarter – “Uncle Charlaux was transferred every time of city in city, and because of it he lived agonizing, going away from Ubatuba, he felt as he was exile, for have been committed a treason against the country. In one of this reflection moments he composed this masterpiece in “sextilha” – Ubatuba charm city, after that composed “The Thrush”, “The Cicada”, “Missing Avaré” and others that got lost along the years. Charleaux lived at Conceição Street, no number, in downtown. See also the other pictures and compare with the verses, this is the true Ubatuba hymn. For sure Charleaux, at the moment that he composed this masterpiece, imagined to be at the Cross. In my opinion, not even the consecrated teacher Francisco Gomes, author of Ubatuba Yes (city official hymn). – Ubatuba from Brazil – Iron Cross and Anchieta’s Ubatuba could got so much harmony in the nature as this Charleaux poetry. Ubatuba Charm City. Ubatuba 376 years old. My deepest concolences for your annyversary. It is a pity to see your chaotic situation. No infrastructure 49 years after Matarazzo. I can’t talk anymore, it’s getting me sick. I still believe that the “petista” mayor Maurício Moromizato will improve it! Or make it shine, or dark at once. Let’s wait the next year.
